Photo Dimensions in Pixels: Common Sizes for Social, ID & Print
4 min readUpdated July 27, 2026
Pixel dimensions are just the width × height of an image in pixels — a 1080×1080 photo is 1080 pixels wide and 1080 tall. Most upload forms and platforms expect an exact size, so here's a handy reference of the most common ones, plus how to resize any photo to match.
Social media photo sizes (pixels)
- 1Instagram post (square) — 1080 × 1080 (1:1)
- 2Instagram portrait — 1080 × 1350 (4:5)
- 3Instagram story / Reel / TikTok — 1080 × 1920 (9:16)
- 4Facebook cover — 820 × 312 · profile picture — 170 × 170
- 5X (Twitter) header — 1500 × 500 · in-post image — 1200 × 675
- 6YouTube thumbnail — 1280 × 720 · channel art — 2560 × 1440
- 7LinkedIn cover — 1584 × 396 · profile photo — 400 × 400
ID & passport photo sizes (at 300 DPI)
- 1US passport — 2 × 2 in → 600 × 600 px
- 2UK / EU / Schengen — 35 × 45 mm → about 413 × 531 px
- 3India — 35 × 45 mm → about 413 × 531 px (or 51 × 51 mm → 600 × 600)
- 4Canada — 50 × 70 mm → about 591 × 827 px
- 5UAE Emirates ID — 35 × 45 mm → about 413 × 531 px
Web & print sizes (pixels)
- 1Link / social share preview (Open Graph) — 1200 × 630
- 2Favicon source — 512 × 512 (square)
- 34 × 6 in photo print at 300 DPI — 1200 × 1800
- 4A4 page at 300 DPI — 2480 × 3508
How to resize a photo to an exact size
- 1Open the Resize Image tool and add your photo.
- 2Enter the exact width and height in pixels from the list above (toggle the aspect-ratio lock depending on whether you need an exact fit or a proportional shrink).
- 3Download — and optionally convert to WebP or JPG in the same place to cut the file size.
A note on DPI
On a screen, only the pixel dimensions matter. DPI (dots per inch) only comes into play for printing — the physical size in inches equals pixels ÷ DPI. That's why a passport photo needs both a pixel size and a DPI (usually 300, sometimes 600). Everything here is computed on your device; your photo is never uploaded.
