How to Create an Invoice and Download It as a PDF (Free)

4 min readUpdated July 22, 2026

Freelancers and small businesses shouldn't need a subscription just to send an invoice. Here's how to create a professional invoice and download it as a PDF for free, entirely in your browser.

What to put on an invoice

A clear invoice includes your business name and contact details, your client's details, a unique invoice number, the date (and due date), an itemised list of what you're charging for, any tax, and the total. Notes or payment terms at the bottom are a nice touch.

Create your invoice in 3 steps

  1. 1Open the Invoice Generator and fill in your business and client details, an invoice number and dates.
  2. 2Add each line item with a description, quantity and rate — or paste rows straight from Excel/Google Sheets to fill the table at once. Subtotal, tax and total calculate automatically.
  3. 3Pick your currency (USD, EUR, GBP, INR, AED, SAR, PKR and more), check the live preview, then download the PDF.

Private and free

The invoice is built on your device — your business, client and amount details never leave your browser. There's no account, no watermark and no limit on how many you create.
