How to Resize an Image to an Exact Pixel Size

Uploads and platforms often demand exact pixel dimensions — a 1080×1080 square for Instagram, a 1200×630 link preview, a profile photo capped at a certain width. Here's how to resize an image to a precise size for free.

Aspect ratio: lock it or not

If you keep the aspect ratio locked, setting one dimension calculates the other so the image never looks stretched. If a platform needs an exact square or banner, unlock the ratio and set both width and height — just know the image may be stretched or you may want to crop first to avoid distortion.

Resize to exact pixels in 3 steps

1. 1Open the Resize Image tool and add your photo.
2. 2Enter the target width and height in pixels (e.g. 1080 × 1080). Toggle the aspect-ratio lock depending on whether you need an exact size or a proportional shrink.
