How to Make a Wi-Fi QR Code for Guests (Free)

A Wi-Fi QR code lets anyone join your network by pointing their camera at it — no spelling out a long password. It's perfect for a home guest room, a café, an office or a holiday rental. Here's how to make one for free.

What you'll need

Just your network name (SSID) exactly as it appears, your password, and the security type (almost always WPA/WPA2). The QR code encodes these directly, so scanning it prompts the phone to connect — nothing is sent anywhere.

Create your Wi-Fi QR code

  1. 1Open the QR Code Generator and choose the Wi-Fi content type.
  2. 2Enter your network name, password and security type. On most phones, opening the camera and pointing it at the code shows a 'Connect to network' prompt.
  3. 3Style it if you like — colours, a frame, a 'Scan to connect' label — then download a PNG or SVG and print it.

A note on safety

Anyone who scans the code can join that network, so display it where you'd already share the password — not on the public internet. If you have a guest network, use that. The code is generated entirely on your device; your password is never uploaded.
