What happens to transparent areas?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent parts of a WebP are filled with white. If you need to keep them see-through, convert to PNG instead.
Does it work with animated WebP?
Animated WebP files convert to a still image — the first frame becomes your JPG, since JPG can't hold animation.
Why won't my .webp file open?
Support for WebP is still patchy outside browsers — older versions of Windows Photo Viewer, Office, and many upload forms and print shops reject it. Converting to JPG or PNG makes the image open and upload everywhere.
Does converting lose quality?
JPG is a lossy format, so re-encoding always loses a little detail — but at 80% quality or above the difference is hard to see. Choose PNG if you need a pixel-for-pixel copy.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
